LS2PAC is the WKMS card catalogue where you can search for print resources, ebooks and digital audiobooks in our Magic Wall collection, playaways, books on CD, and the Capstone eBook collection.  When signed in, you can verify what titles you have checked out, renew books, place books on hold, create book lists, and save searches.  Once you find resources on your topic, you can link out to related Britannica and magazine articles.

BrainPOP, BrainPOP Espanol, BrainPOP Junior

The BrainPOP sites feature animated, engaging content that bolsters achievement. Resources include Flash-based movies, quizzes, experiments, timelines, and activity pages that cover hundreds of topics in Math, Science, Social Studies, English, Technology, Arts & Music, and Health.

Britannica Middle School Edition is a powerful resource to search or browse for information in encyclopedias, journals and magazines, graphics and videos, links to pertinent web sites, and related primary source documents and eBooks in conjunction with the Project Gutenberg Consortia Center.  The site offers three learning levels for each encyclopedia article.  You can translate articles using Google Translate.  You can create an account with a username, create favorites, tag articles.  Bibliographic citation information provided including MLA 7 format.

Britannica Image Quest contains approximately three million images from over 50 of the best collections in the world including DK Images and National Geographic Society. All images are rights-cleared for non-commercial, educational use - great for student reports and projects; or school Web sites, newsletters, newspapers, flyers, and bulletins.  Images can be downloaded, printed, or emailed.  Bibliographic citation information provided including MLA 7 format.

Capstone Interactive library is a WKMS Capstone collection of nonfiction eBooks that can be read on any device or computer that can access the web.  The books also include an audio and word by word guide as you read.  This collection is available through LS2PAC as well.

Google Classroom can be accessed by joining a classroom that your teacher has created on GAFE using a code provided by your teacher.
Defined Stem is an instructional resource that includes lessons that are STEM and PBL related. Student access to this database will be teacher directed.
EasyBib EDU is an online citation maker and research tool.  It includes the online citation maker that is free plus subscription tools including a MLA auto formatting, digital notecards, and easy access to Google Drive.
Explora for Secondary Schools

is an EBSCO site that features a collection of academic articles and AP videos for research. Topics can be sorted by lexile and content standard. You can translate articles as needed. Bibliographic citation provided for articles including MLA 7 format.  Direct export to EasyBib.

GALE for Students Online is a Cengage Learning site that is part of the FCPS eBook collection.  Considered print source.  Links to Gale eBook collection and WKMS collections.  Can highlight and take notes while in article, download to Google Drive, view in PDF, e-mail, download as MP3, or translate into 30 different languages.  Text to speech enabled.  MLA 7 Bibliographic citation format with export to EasyBib. NEW: direct export to Google Drive of highlighted quote, notes, and citation.

Google Drive is cloud storage for FCPS GAFE Accounts.   Documents can be organized into folders, shared, and worked on collaboratively.  Apps and extensions can also help you create and increase productivity in an online environment. 
History Reference Center

History Reference Center  is an EBSCO site features full text for more than 1,620 reference books, encyclopedias and non-fiction books from leading history publishers, such as Branden Publishing, Compass Point Books, Houghton Mifflin, Lerner Publishing Group, Mason Crest Publishers, Morgan Reynolds Inc., Oliver Press, Oxford University Press, Rourke Publishing LLC., Salem Press, Stackpole Books, Toucan Valley Publications.

The database also includes full text for more than 150 leading history periodicals, including America's Civil War, American Heritage, American Historical Review, American History, Archaeology, Aviation History, British Heritage, Chinese America: History & Perspectives, Civil War Times, Foreign Affairs, German History, History, History Review, History Today (back to January 1975), History: Reviews of New Books, Kansas History, Journal of American History, Manitoba History, Military History, Naval History, North Carolina Historical Review, Virginia Magazine of History & Biography, Wild West, World War II.

Database also contains nearly 57,000 historical documents, more than 77,000 biographies of historical figures, more than 113,000 historical photos and maps, and more than 80 hours of historical video.

ScienceFlix is a Scholastic site that combines curriculum- driven leveled content, interactive features, and intuitive navigation into a single, highly engaging mobile and tablet compatible science resource.

Science Reference Center is an EBSCO site that features full text for nearly 17 full text science encyclopedias, 700 full text science reference books, 200 full text science periodicals, and 20,000 science images and 500 science videos. Topics covered include: biology, chemistry, earth & space science, environmental science, health & medicine, history of science, life science, physics, science & society, science as inquiry, scientists, technology and wildlife.

SIRS Discoverer is a ProQuest site includes articles from 2,100 national and international magazines, newspapers, and U.S. government documents.  Includes Compton's by Britannica and The World Almanac for Kids. along with 9,000+ educational web links via the integrated Discoverer WebFind content set.  More than 29,000 graphics, photos, maps, and charts are available, connected to associated articles.  Site features current events, a monthly research topic, presidential and other general interest biographies, facts on 200 countries including history, maps and flags.  Site features fiction titles, science fair ideas, plus career skills discoverer. Articles have rated reading level with Lexile scores given and can be translated to 12 different languages. SIRS Knowledge Source is a ProQuest high school level resource that features thousands of full-text articles, documents, Internet resources, and graphics from SIRS’ highly acclaimed reference databases. Articles have rated reading level with Lexile scores given and can be translated to 12 different languages.

SIRS Issues Researcher is a general reference database containing thousands of full-text articles exploring 300+ social, scientific, health, historic, business, economic, political and global issues.  There is a pro verses con feature, a spotlight of the month feature, and an almanac.

SIRS Government Reporter delivers historic and government documents, directories, full-text documents, and graphics on a wide variety of topics including health, science, economics, environment, politics, foreign affairs, business and industry.  Site provides current and historic government documents including National Archives documents, landmark and recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions, information about federal departments, agencies, and elected leaders including the Federal Agency Directory, and the U.S. Congressional Directory.  Country profiles are available as well.

SIRS Renaissance provides current perspectives on the Arts & Humanities including architecture and design, culture, literature, multimedia, music, performing arts, philosophy and religion, and visual arts.Full-text articles are selected from over 1200 domestic and international publications. Many articles are accompanied by full-color graphics, including art reproductions, photographs and illustrations.

SKS WebSelect a collection of more than 15,000 educator-selected websites.

SIRS Decades features nearly 5,000 primary and secondary source articles highlighting key events, movements, people, and places in 20th-century America. Coverage includes documents, letters/memos, editorial cartoons, streaming video, websites, photographs, maps, advertisements, and published articles.

Students can tag articles and sites, examine search history, and save a session.  Lexile scores given. Bibliographic citation provided for articles including MLA 7 format.  Direct export to EasyBib.
