The Pre-K program here at Whittier is designed to prepare students who are four years old for Kindergarten. It is a 1/2 day program with two sessions. Students learn how to read and write their names, and well as letters and numbers. They also focus on social skills such as sharing, using manners, and taking turns. Everyone has a lot of fun here, and we even collaborate with the Special Education Pre-K class right next door! We learn a lot, and have a lot of fun while learning!

The special education Pre-K program is for students who are 3-5 years old with special needs. The program focuses on promoting independence, language and a successful transition into the general education environment all while working on the pre-kindergarten curriculum. Our sessions run for 2 and a half hours a day with an AM session and a PM session. There is a lot of collaboration between the special education Pre-K program and the general education Pre-K program with monthly collaboration events and daily inclusion of the special ed Pre-K students into the general education setting. The program prepares students for Kindergarten by teaching basic math and language arts readiness skills all while having a lot of fun!!
