Interventions are designed for students who are not meeting grade level standards after teachers have tried a variety of strategies in the classroom for a substantial amount of time.
Hello! I am so honored to be the literacy specialist at Whittier Elementary. This is my seventeenth year in education and I love what I do! My experience includes teaching 3 years at a private school, 6 years at Twin Ridge Elementary in Mt. Airy and this is my 8th year at Whittier. I am so happy to be part of the Whittier family.
I have a husband and two daughters who keep me very busy! I am always searching for new ways to make kids love reading as much as I do. I also enjoy playing sports including volleyball, soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. Running, cooking, and crafting are favorite hobbies of mine.
I attended Mount Saint Mary’s University to get my degree in education and went on to get my graduate degree as a reading specialist from Loyola University in Maryland. I also have my certification in administration and leadership. I have written curriculum for Frederick County for 12 years and I was a New Teacher Consultant for 3 years. I'm looking forward to another wonderful year!
