It is always exciting to begin another school year. Beginning this school year virtually brings excitement and anxiety, but we will work through virtual learning together. I will be working with students as a Targeted Intervention Teacher. This is my 24th year in education with FCPS,working at Ballenger Creek Elementary and Orchard Grove Elementary before coming to Whittier six years ago. My experience includes being a special education instructional assistant, teaching third grade, and as a Targeted Intervention Teacher.
I am married and have two adult children. When not at school, I love to garden, cook, and spend time with my family, especially travelling to Disney World, the mountains of Tennessee, and the beaches of New Jersey.
For my undergraduate work, I attended the University of Mary Washington earning a degree in biology. My graduate degree in education and reading specialist certification was completed at Mount Saint Mary's University. I have taken specialized training in teaching the science of reading and have written curriculum for FCPS.
I love helping children become better readers and encouraging them to discover all that can be learned through reading.
Here's to another busy year for students, staff, and families at Whittier!
