Dear Valley Elementary Families,
It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I write this letter of introduction to you as the new principal of Valley Elementary School. I am truly honored to become part of the Valley community, which has already given me such a warm welcome! In just the few interactions I’ve had with staff, students and families, it’s become abundantly clear that this school is a unique and special place. I am humbled and most appreciative of the opportunity presented to me to become a member of this educational family.
I come to VES with eleven years of experience with FCPS. I served as a classroom teacher at Twin Ridge ES for 5 years, a math specialist at Twin Ridge ES and Spring Ridge ES for 3 years, assistant principal at Whittier ES for 2 years and an assistant principal at Hillcrest for 1 year.
On a personal note, I just got married in June. My husband, Damon and I live with my three children Ben (21), Matti (19) and Drew (17) in New Market. Ben will be a junior at WVU, Matti a sophomore at UMD and Drew will be a senior at Linganore High.
One of the most important aspects of my work here at Valley will be building strong relationships with students, teachers and families. You’ll find me in the hallways, classrooms and on the playground getting to know your child(ren). My passion has been and always will be educating students. With that in mind, you can expect I will work diligently with teachers to make sure our students are exposed to curriculum and instruction both engaging and challenging. I will be working with the staff of Valley to make my transition, as the new principal, seamless as possible. I have an open door policy and welcome your input and ideas. I’m looking forward to meeting each of you as we start this new and exciting year together! Enjoy the rest of your summer!
