Reflection Journals, Agendas, and Reading Logs

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Each Friday, your child will be writing a letter to you in their Reflection Journal explaining what they learned that week. I only require a parent signature, (due by the following Monday) but many parents like to write back to their child by praising them, offering advice, and asking questions. It is also wonderful to reflect at the end of the year on their writing to see how much they have improved. This is a great opportunity for you to know what we are doing in the classroom and how your child is feeling about school.

In 5th grade, it is expected that students get their agendas initialed nightly (Monday-Thursday). It is the student's responsibility to get this signed. The agenda is also a good way for me to write any quick notes about missing assignments, behavior, or questions. It is my hope that this will promote responsibility and keep the lines of communication open.

If a student forgets to get their agenda signed twice in a week they will owe five minutes of recess.
If a student does not get their reflection journal signed by Tuesday of the following week they will owe five minutes of their recess.

Thanks again for your continued support. You’re such a vital part of your child’s education!
