Hello UES Families,
My name is Heather Van Eck. I received my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Frostburg State University. My master's degree is in Educational Leadership from Hood College. This is my 11th year at UES. I have taught fourth grade, first grade, and I am now in my fourth year serving as the UES Math Specialist/Interventionist. With my role, I have the opportunity to work with students and teachers. I enjoy providing professional learning experiences for teachers that will help enhance lessons and give a deeper understanding of effective routines, practices, and strategies to utilize in classrooms with their students. We want students to look forward to their math block with excitement and a growth mindset. Students will learn that it is okay to take risks while questioning and problem solving with collaborative and individual learning experiences.
A little bit about myself outside of school. I live in Lake Linganore, New Market with my husband, 2 year old son, Weston, infant daughter, Tinley, and our yippy dog(Schnauzer/Terrier) Feebee. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, exercising, long walks, reading, crafts, baking, and relaxing by the lake, beach, or pool.
