My name is Gemma Pack and I am a member of the Reading Intervention team, here at Urbana Elementary.
I have been teaching for 36 years. I began my teaching career in private school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I taught for 8.5 years there in grades K, 1, 2, 3 and 6. The rest of my career has been here at Urbana where I taught various grade levels and subjects until I began teaching in the Learning Language Support Program. I am a member of the PBS Team, Reading Team, and the Mentor Program here at Urbana.
I believe that all children can and will learn if given the opportunity, and if they believe in themselves.
I have a B.S. in Education from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. I also have an MAT from the University of Pittsburgh.
I like to keep the lines of communication open with my students' parents. If you have any questions or concerns, you may contact me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 240-566-0567.
While my children were young, I co-managed a small business called "Teacher Time." I was also a sales representative for Brewer & Bishop, Inc. I was born and raised in North Braddock, Pennsylvania where I attended Catholic schools for grades 1-12. My parents were staunch believers in furthering the education of their daughters.
In 1988 my family and I moved to Frederick. I live in Ballenger Creek Meadows with my husband, Micky. I have two daughters who attended the Magnet Program here at Urbana. My oldest, Lindsay (32), is married and lives with her husband Chris in Baltimore. My youngest, Halley (28), also lives in Baltimore and works for Johns Hopkins University.
I love to read, travel, and teach here at Urbana! I am also a die-hard fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers!
