Principal's Message

Dear Tuscarora Students and Families,

I am excited to serve at Tuscarora Elementary School as your principal. I have heard many wonderful things about the community and have enjoyed meeting many staff and students as I have settled in. It is a blessing to be here, at Tuscarora, as I begin my journey with Frederick County Public Schools.

Prior to coming to FCPS and Tuscarora Elementary, I served in a variety of roles with the Montgomery County Public School system for over 20 years. I was part of multiple school communities as a classroom teacher, staff development teacher, instructional specialist, assistant principal, principal intern, and ultimately a principal at Greenwood Elementary School in Brookeville, Maryland.

Although my years serving in these many roles in education have afforded numerous opportunities for me to lead and change the trajectory of student achievement, my greatest achievement comes not professionally, but personally. I have been the wife to an amazing husband for the past 16 years and mother to four beautiful children. It is often noticed that I treat the children I work with like my own. I would want nothing less than the best for my personal children, and therefore, I will do the same for your children.

I look forward to starting a wonderful journey together this year, as we partner in the work that will help our students excel academically and thrive as responsible citizens.

Make today great,

Carrie Zimmerman
