General/Vocal Music Teacher K-5
Chorus Co-Director 4-5
Welcome to Music, version 2018-2019!
In music class, we sing, we play instruments, we move and we learn to read music and the many descriptive terms within music that makes our music even more enjoyable for listeners and ourselves. Research has shown again and again that the student who has a comprehensive music program like we do here at Tuscarora achieves better in testing in other academic areas, such as Mathematics, Language Arts and Sciences.
A little about me: I am a native of Pennsylvania, but as you may know, I am a New York Yankees fan. For those of you that are Boston Red Sox fans, please know that it's ok. Everyone makes bad choices at certain times in their lives. I have a degree in Music Education with concentrations in voice and organ from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I completed my Master of Music Education from Towson University, here in Maryland, in 2011. I also earned my post-graduate certificate in Dalcroze, Orff and Kodaly (methods of music education) at Towson. I play many instruments, but I am best at playing keyboard instruments, including the piano, organ and carillon. As a carillonneur, I am in charge of the bells in the tower at Baker Park, where I play the first, second and third Sunday of each month at 12:30. I love to play the recorder, and kids at Tuscarora all get that chance in fourth and fifth grades. I also play string instruments. I live in Frederick with my wife and sometimes two boys, who attend Frederick Community College, and Johns Hopkins University, where my younger son is persuing a Masters Degree in Elementary and Special Education!
Please find my telephone and email above. While I will try to answer your phone messages quickly, the phone does not ring during the school day, and the little light on the phone showing that I have a message is very small. The best way to reach me is the email address above. I check that all of the time.
