Job Title:

Michele Baisey

Dear Thurmont Primary Families,

The 2021-2022 school year promises to be  filled with new challenges and learning experiences.  I have many years of experience serving throughout other Frederick County Public Schools.  I was an assistant principal at Hillcrest Elementary School, where I focused on supporting our primary grade students and staff.  Prior to this school based administrative role, I worked in central office for seven years within the Departments of Special Education and Psychological Services and Curriculum, Instruction and Innovation. I also look back fondly on my time as a classroom teacher where I spent 12 years in kindergarten, first and second grades.

I deeply believe in the promise of public education and am proud to serve in the system where I completed elementary, middle and high school.  I am also honored to be an alumnae of Hood College, where I earned a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education, Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership Certification and most recently a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership.  Growing up in Walkersville, and continuing to live in Frederick, I value and appreciate the uniqueness of our diverse community.

Fun fact: 23 years ago I completed my student teaching at Thurmont Elementary School in 2nd grade!

I am honored to be at Thurmont Primary and will continue the strong tradition of working, learning and caring together as we support students in growing their hearts, brains and bodies.  In the year ahead, we will continue creating an environment where all students look forward to coming to school each day, feel valued and believe in their own potential. In the classroom, we will continue to provide learning experiences tailored to students’ individual needs, which create excitement and promote ownership over the learning process.  You play a critical role in your child(ren)’s educational success and I look forward to partnering with you in the coming school year. Please know you are always welcome to call (240-236-2800), stop by the school or email me directly ( if I can be of support to you, your child(ren) or family.

The quote below captures my appreciation for and commitment to working hard for your child(ren).

“Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.”

 ~Theodore Roosevelt

I look forward to meeting you and hearing what makes you, and your child(ren), Thurmont Proud!
