Hi, I am Mrs. Karen Yoder. I grew up in the small town of Accident, MD. I have an older brother and a younger sister. I am married and have a wonderful son and a beautiful daughter. I love to read and spend my free time reading.
I graduated from Northern Garrett High School. I attended Garrett Community College in McHenry, MD graduating with an Associate of Arts degree in Elementary Education. I then attended Frostburg State University, Frostburg, MD where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education.

I accepted my first teaching position in a private Lutheran school in LaPlata, MD. During the 6 years I taught there, I taught 1st, 3rd and 4th grades. I began my career in Frederick County Public Schools, MD in the Fall of 1996 as a Special Education Program Assistant at Spring Ridge Elementary for a year. I continued working at Spring Ridge Elementary my 2nd year as a Title 1 Assistant. In the Fall of 1998, I was offered a 1st grade teaching position at Spring Ridge Elementary. I taught 1st grade for 5 years at SRES. In the Fall of 2003, I had the opportunity to loop with my 1st grade students, teaching them in 2nd grade. I thoroughly enjoyed the looping experience. I taught one more year in 2nd grade at SRES.

In December of 2003, I graduated from Frostburg State University with a Master's Degree in Reading. I accepted the position as Literacy Specialist at Thurmont Primary School in the Fall of 2004 where I continue to share my expertise to encourage students to work and grow in their heart, brain and body power.
