Welcome back to Thurmont Primary School! I would like to take a few moments to introduce myself to you. My name is Mrs. Lillard and I am your child’s first grade teacher. This is my 6th year teaching at TPS and my 13th year teaching, overall. I spent my first 7 years teaching 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades in Carroll County, MD. I have a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction. I have also taken coursework in STEM education. All of my coursework has been done through McDaniel College in Westminster, MD.
I am also the TPS STEM Leader. Be on the look out for many great STEM opportunities for your student this year!
I live in Frederick County with my husband, our two sons, and our two dogs. My family and I love spending time together and enjoy playing fetch with the dogs in the back yard or taking them for long walks around our neighborhood.
My goal this year is to help your child grow in his/her brain, heart, and body power. I feel that first grade is a time for our young friends to grow together and to learn about not only the curricula, but also about how to be a good friend and community helper. This year will be about learning, growing, and having fun! I will do my absolute best for you and your child this year and I hope that you will feel comfortable enough to come to me whenever you have questions, comments, or concerns. Please always feel free to e-mail or call! If I am unavailable, I will get back to you within approximately twenty-four hours.
