My name is Brandon Chuhran, a Social Studies teacher and coach at Tuscarora High School. During the 2014-2015 school year, I am teaching Government Merit (Fall 2014/Spring 2015) and Honors (Fall 2014) and AP Human Geography (Spring 2015). I am also an Extended Learning Opportunity tutor, assistant coach of Men's Cross Country and distance coach for Indoor Track, and Head Coach of the Tuscarora Lacrosse program.
I started teaching in Frederick County Public Schools in 2007 at New Market Middle School with classes in Language Arts and Math. I transferred to Tuscarora High School in 2009 and taught Government, Modern World History, American Studies II. During the 2010 school year, I took a leave of absence and traveled through southern and eastern Africa, India, and southeast Asia. Upon my return to FCPS, I taught Modern World History and AP Macroeconomics during Spring 2011. I spent the fall of 2011 teaching 6th and 8th grade Social Studies at Crestwood Middle School, before returning to Tuscarora High School where I taught Government and AP Human Geography.
I attended Kalamazoo College from 1999 to 2003 and graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Political Science and a minor in Mandarin Chinese. I have traveled throughout the world spending time in 31 countries and living in Monteverde, Costa Rica and Beijing, People's Republic of China.
