Work Study 

Work Permits:  Work permits available at http://www.dllr.state.md.us/childworkpermit/.  Parents must verify age.  It is not necessary to acquire information or signatures from school personnel.

Students interested in scheduling Work Study for the 2017-2018 school year should see Mrs. Mummert ASAP to aquire paperwork.  In addition, all THS Work Study students are required to take Advanced Career Preparation and Transition in conjunction with the WS program.  (If students are using Work Study for their graduation completer, they are required to take BOTH Introduction to Career Research and Development and Advanced Career Prep and Transition, along with 2 credits of Work Study.)

Internships 

Students interested in scheduling an internship for the 2017-2018 school year should see Mrs. Mummert ASAP to acquire paperwork.  Students interested in internships in one of our feeder schools must meet requirements related to GPA, attendance, and discipline. 

Internship Opportunities:

Applications for the NCI at Frederick, Werner H. Kirsten Student Intern Program for next school year open on November 1!! These are scientific/research support internships on base at Ft. Detrick. Access the application at https://ncifrederick.cancer.gov/careers/student_programs/internships/sip/

Deadline for application is January 1, 2018. See Mrs. Mummert for more information.



Medical/Marketing Internship:  Frederick Foot and Ankle is offering an internship opportunity for the upcoming school year for seniors with a 3.0 or higher GPA.  Students will experience patient interactions, assist with chart notes and medical records, provide basic medical procedures and shadow staff.  Visit the office site at www.mynewfeet.com and then send a resume to mynewposition75@gmail.com.

 

 

Service Learning

Students wishing to be recognized for Meritorious Service for the 2017-2018 school should turn in any record of hours to Mrs. Mummert by the end of February 2018.  Note:  Students must have 75+ hours on record in order to receive the recognition.  Awards will be presented at the Empty Bowls Benefit Concert (date TBD).

Volunteer Opportunities:

Orchard Grove Elementary library is need of some summer volunteers to help reorganize the library collection and get it set up for the new school year:

Who: High school students

What: Helping to sort and shelve books into the new layout of the library.

When: The library will be open for reorganization on July 10, 12-13, and 17-19  from 10 AM to 2 PM

Open Campus
 

Students wishing to be excused for part of their school day to attend courses at FCC need to complete the FCPS Open Campus/Dual Enrollment packet (available from Mrs. Mummert).  Students must have an unweighted 2.0 GPA in order to participate in this program. 

Students will receive REDUCED tuition if they participate in this program.  In order to receive this discount, students/parents must complete the PIHE College and Career Readiness form (available from Mrs. Mummert).  This form should be turned in to either the Registrar or Student Accounts office at FCC at time of registration.

Proof of enrollment and payment (full or partial) and all other completed paperwork must be turned in to Mrs. Mummert in order to be approved for this program.  Click on the link below for the Open Campus/Dual Enrollment packet:
