      This high school course involves a broad study of technology and how it affects every aspect of our lives. Problem solving skills are emphasized through a series of design briefs that incorporate the application of Math and Science. In lab and classroom activities students experience ways to create, use, improve, control, and assess a variety of possible technologies including: design, communicating design solutions, processing materials, construction, manufacturing, communication systems, electronics and the computer, graphic communications, energy and power, transportation, safety issues, and biotechnologies.

Pre-Engineering 1 Syllabus

Pre-Engineering 1 is a course that is open to all students interested in learning the basics of Engineering.  The course is intended to acquaint the student with general Engineering concepts and terms.  The course is taught primarily through hands on activity stations.  As students progress through the course, they will experience a minimum of 2 Learning Activity Packets (LAPS) at each station.  Some of the stations include: Robotics, surveying, structural design, CAD, and many others.  All students are required to complete their assignments within a specific time frame.

Pre-Engineering 2 is a course that is open to all students interested in learning the basics of Engineering.  The course is intended to expand on the basic skills and knowledge acquired in Pre-Eng 1.  The course is taught primarily through hands on activity stations or Learning Activity Packets(LAPs).  As students progress through the course, they will narrow their interest to 5 – 6 stations through LAP 6 – 7.  Some of the stations include: Robotics, surveying, structural design, CAD, and many others.  All students are required to complete their assignments within a specific time frame.

Pre-Engineering 3 is a course that is open to all students interested in learning the basics of Engineering.  The course is intended expand on the basic skills and knowledge acquired in Pre-Eng 1 & 2.  The course is taught primarily through hands on activity stations or Learning Activity Packets(LAPs).  As students progress through the course, they will narrow their interest to 3 – 4 stations through LAP 12.  Some of the stations include: Robotics, surveying, structural design, CAD, and many others.  All students are required to complete their assignments within a specific time frame.
