A video message from the staff at OGES. Enjoy!
I hope this letter finds you and your family in good health, relaxed and rejuvenated for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year at Orchard Grove Elementary. The FindOutFirst email and text message from FCPS is currently unavailable. When the communication system is operating this letter will be shared. As the new Assistant Principal at Orchard Grove Elementary, let me be the first to share with you how excited I am to begin a new school year as a dolphin working together to create strong thinkers, caring hearts and healthy bodies. I am humbled and honored to serve and be a part of the community. This summer,, I have been spending much of my time with Principal, Mr. Corrigan and Assistant Principal, Mrs. Hyde planning for a smooth transition. It is abundantly clear that Orchard Grove is unique, committed to learning and a forward-thinking school community.
Professionally, I have over 21 years of experience as an Elementary Teacher and Literacy Specialist for Frederick County Public Schools, FCPS. In 1999, I graduated from Salisbury University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary in Education. I began teaching at Glade Elementary, Walkersville Maryland where I spent seven years teaching various grade levels. Motivated by my positive experiences in teaching reading, I received my Masters of Science Degree in Curriculum & Instruction with a Reading Specialist Concentration from Hood College in 2006. Soon after, I became the Literacy Specialist at New Midway-Woodsboro Elementary, Woodsboro Maryland for 12 years. I pursued my certificate in Administration and Leadership at Hood College and gained invaluable experiences throughout FCPS. The past two years, it was my pleasure to embrace the science of reading as the Literacy Specialist for Whittier Elementary, Frederick Maryland.
My greatest achievement comes not professionally, but personally, as I am the mother of two children: Jonathan (16) and Kylee (12). I fully understand the challenges and rewards of raising children in today's world. I have lived in Frederick County all my life. I currently live on our family farm in New Market, MD with my husband and children.
Once again, I am thankful to have the opportunity to serve and ensure that all children have the best possible experiences and reach their greatest potential while at Orchard Grove. I look forward to getting to know you and your child(ren). I will be working this summer to ensure a smooth transition. Please call the school 240-236-2400 or email email@example.com if you would like to make an appointment.
Together in education,
