5th Grade

Welcome to a new school year!! I am pleased to take the opportunity to introduce myself. A good learning experience is built on a cooperative effort among parent, child and teacher. I look forward to the work and growth that we will accomplish this year.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education; Elementary Education and Special Education. I also have a Master's Degree in Reading. I have been teaching for 22 years (21 in Frederick County; 1 year in Washington D.C.) where I have taught 3rd grade, kindergarten, reading in 4th and 5th grades, enrichment and special education. I have enjoyed all grade levels. Each one brings a new challenge.
I was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. I love the snow! Moving to Maryland has not made me root for any other sports teams.... No matter what the football or hockey seasons bring, I am true to the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres:)
I have 2 children that keep me very busy. Shawn is in High School and Riley is in 4th grade. If I have free time, I like to read as well as exercise. I love to be outdoors. Usually I am watching sporting events outdoors but I also like to run, hike and swim.

I believe modeling is the most powerful way to affect a child's learning. Please model the love of learning at home by reading to and in front of your child. Talk to them about their day and activities that they have completed in school. Feel free to contact me about any questions or concerns that you may have. My classroom door is ALWAYS OPEN.

I am looking forward to a great 2019 - 2020 school year!!!
