Apples will continue into next week. We will still be counting weighing and using our senses to discover more about apples. In science, we will be discovering the life cycle of an apple. In language arts our new word wall word will be look. We will be discussing the letter sounds and focusing specifically on the letters S and M. We will be writing to inform about the fall. We will also be discussing words that are the same and different.

Next week will be a week filled with apples! We will be using apples across all subject areas. We will use a recipe in Language Arts to make homemade applesauce. Each student will also write in their journals a prediction of what the applesauce will taste like. We will continue to learn about letters and sounds, focusing on letters B and M. Our new word wall word will be “is”.  In science, we will discover our senses through apples. In math, we will create a graph determining which color apple we like the most.

This week in language arts we will be reading Brown Bear, Brown Bear. While reading this book we will discuss the colors and color words.  We will also begin guided reading groups. During these small group sessions we will be learning how to improve our reading skills as well as begin a routine to maintain throughout the rest of the school year. The word wall word for this week will be "see". Students will be expected to spell and read this word. In math, we will continue working on number sense 0-10.

Wow, what a great first week! Next week in language arts we will be learning the word wall words: I, A, and The. We will also be reading Chicka-Chicka, Boom Boom to practice the letters and letter sounds. We will be writing about our weekend.
