About Mrs. King
Welcome to my website! I would like to share a little bit about myself.
This is my 15th year teaching at New Market, but my 25th year teaching since I graduated from University of Maryland with my Bachelor's degree. I have a certification in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education through sixth grade and an endorsement in Special Education. I have also earned my Masters Degree in Reading from Towson University. My professional teaching experience includes working with prekindergarten through fourth grade students. I have also engaged in private tutoring as well as tutoring through FCPS Homeless Tutoring programs for the past seven years. Finally, I have participated in curriculum writing for several years for both the Social Studies as well as the Advanced Academics office of FCPS. During the past several summers, I have taught camp through the Young Scholars programs as well as the Summer Enrichment Camp.
I am currently serving the role as the Advanced Academics Itinerant Teacher, supporting area schools with offering enrichment opportunities and resources for advanced learners from Kemptown, Green Valley, Liberty, Twin Ridge, Spring Ridge and New Market Elementary Schools.
I currently live on a farm in New Market with my husband of 28 years. I raise angus beef cattle while also caring for my three dogs and four cats. I have two adult children. My daughter works with dairy cattle with both the University of Maryland Agriculture Department as well as with the USDA research facility in Beltsville. My son works part time at TJ Roadhouse in the kitchen while attending Frederick Community College part-time.
Being a teacher and working with children is my dream come true. There's no better job in the world for me.
