Hello!  Thank you for visiting! My name is Ashley Philemon and I am honored to do the work of helping students to grow and discover!

Georgia-born, I moved to Maryland when I was seven. I grew up, was educated, and taught elementary school in Prince George's County. After two years in the classroom, I moved to Massachusetts to attend graduate school. While there, I started my family. We eventually moved to beautiful Frederick, and after some time at home with my two young children, I returned to the classroom!

I am thrilled to engage with a dynamic community of staff and families to help children learn!  It is my vocation and passion. I especially love facilitating student conversations about math concepts and helping students to develop the skills they need to think, speak, and write critically about text.

When I am not teaching, I love snuggling up with my children to read a good book, sharing meals and conversation with my friends, and decorating my home.

Like Malala Yousafzai I believe that "one child, one teacher, one pen, and one book can change the world."
