Welcome to Monocacy Valley Montessori

Welcome Back to School

Please follow the traffic patterns designated in the map above, and practice extra patience during the first week or so of school. Very important:
ONE WAY entrance into the parking lot from 5th street/ ONE WAY exit to Bruner Alley/ N. Bentz St.
LEFT TURN ONLY from Elm St. into carline on Evergreen Place / ONE WAY traffic on Evergreen Place during carline

You are encouraged to use carline if your child(ren) will be entering school independently. Please be sure everyone is ready to exit your vehicle as you reach the drop off area next to the building.

Please keep in mind that our parking lot is small and cannot accommodate our entire school community at once. If you park on the street, please do not block the driveways of our neighbors. In our lot, please drive slowly, use extreme caution, and follow directions of our safety volunteers.

If you choose to walk your child into the building, always remember to sign in on the clipboard in the office. Also, please remember that the teachers will be focused on welcoming students during this time.

Maryland's First Charter School

Monocacy Valley Montessori Public Charter School is the first charter school within the Frederick County Public School (FCPS) system. Attendance is open to all FCPS students entering Pre-K through eighth grade through a Lottery system held annually in March each year. The school's academic program is based on the philosophy and methods of Dr. Maria Montessori. The students, staff and families of MVMPCS are working together to create an enriching learning community. The first step in exploring a Montessori education is to visit our school on one of our monthly tours. We encourage you to sign up.

School Closings/Delay Announcements

MVMPCS sends the cancellation notice via the eNews email distribution (after Find Out First). Messages from eNews will include changes to events specific to MVM (such as snow-date changes for plays). All families are required to subscribe to our eNews. If you do not receive this, please fill out the Contact Form below and then notify webmaster@mvmpcs.org to get added.
Frederick County Public Schools sends out all school closing notifications through their Find Out First system. There was an upgrade to the system over the summer, so if you did not receive the notification for this cancellation, please review your communications preferences within the FCPS system.
