Knights KO TJ

Middletown continued its impressive run of form, winning its fourth straight game over visiting TJ by a 3-0 score.

Once again, it was not an easy match for the Knights and TJ's confidence from their own winning streak carried over into a fast-paced start.  Against the run of play, MHS found itself ahead.  A free kick was won near the midfield line.  Goalkeeper Shane Falcinelli stepped up and served in a long service that eventually bounced it way to Zach Fontenot, whose low, driven shot to the far post put the Knights up 1-0 just 14 minutes into the match.

After halftime, the match's intensity did not slow down.  Finally, after a few near goals, Middletown was able to extend its lead.  Mike Zaycer and Gary Higginbothem played a lovely combination that freed up Fontenot for his second finish of the evening.  2-0!

The final tally came in the final seconds of the match, finishing off the Patriots for good.  Josh Greene was the assister, setting up Fontenot for his second consecutive hat trick.  Falcinelli earned the shutout, anchoring an outstanding defensive performance by the Black and Orange.

Up next for MHS is a trip to rival Walkersville Tuesday evening.  The Lions are having a great season and the Knights could use your support!

MHS JV 2, TJ 0.  Goals: Connor Smith, Justin Hohl; Assists: Hohl, Lucas Tatem.
