Knights drub Hubs

Middletown won impressively on the road against North Hagerstown Friday evening, 3-0.  The shutout was the Knights' second consecutive road victory.

As at Oakdale earlier in the week, MHS had to withstand a strong start from the host team.  Finally, 25 minutes into the half, Josh Greene set up Zach Fontenot for a far post finish.  1-0 MHS!

Just minutes later, Fontenot drew a foul deep in the right hand corner.  Greene took the free kick which was headed into the absolute top corner of the net by John Remsberg.  2-0 MHS!

Halftime and the plummeting temperatures didn't cool the Knights off.  Six minutes into the second half, Fontenot took advantage of a moment of uncertainty in the North backline, pounced on Luke Verdi's long service, fought off a defender and finished with his left foot past the goalkeeper.  3-0!

The defenders (Verdi, Austin Funkhouser, Remsberg, Dylan Smith, Matt Nickols) and goalkeepers Shane Falcinelli and David Burgenson all played their part in preserving the team's third shutout of the season.

Clear Spring makes it first visit to MHS in a long time Tuesday evening.  We hope to see you in the stands supporting the Knights as they look to make it three wins in a row!
