Hello Kemptown Students and Parents! I'm Natalie Wirtz and I'm a fourth grade teacher, currently teaching Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science.
As an Air Force "brat", I lived many different places in the United States, and in the Panama Canal Zone. I have a B.A. degree from Miami University (Ohio) and a M.S. from McDaniel College. I've taught in Frederick County for nineteen years; this is my 14th year at Kemptown Elementary. I have twenty years of experience teaching both 4th and 5th grades. I really enjoy my students and I learn something new from each one of them.
Mt. Airy has been my home for about 30 years. Here my husband, Kevin and I have raised 3 children and 2 chocolate labs. The current master and love of our lives is rescue Luke! Our son Jake (VT 2012) is an engineer who just returned to this area after spending a few years in Texas. Rachel (Towson 2013, Loyola 2014) is a Speech and Language Teacher in Montgomery County and Michael (UMD 2015) moved last year to Albany, New York to work in the cybersecurity field. I don't have any grandchildren yet, but several granddogs!
I enjoy hiking, kayaking, walking, traveling and cooking. I'm a big believer in the power of education, as I believe it provides us with options and in today's quickly changing world, it is a necessity. I love teaching at K.E.S. and am looking forward to another great year! GO COUGARS!
