Job Title:

Literary Specialist

Name:

Stacy Echeandia

Department:

Specialist

Hi, my name is Stacy Echeandia and this is my 2nd year at Green Valley Elementary School as the Literacy Specialist.

This is my 18th year with FCPS!   After receiving my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from Hood College, I began my teaching career at Brunswick Elementary School. During my six years at Brunswick Elementary School, I taught kindergarten, first, and second grades. While teaching at Brunswick Elementary School, I continued my education at Hood College and I received a Master of Science in Reading Specialization.

In 2004, I was very proud to be part of the team of teachers, parents, and students who helped to open Tuscarora Elementary School.   At Tuscarora, I taught Kindergarten, first and second grades.  I have also worked with third, fourth, and fifth graders during our Extended Learning Opportunities for the past 4 years.  In 2010, I received my Maryland Administrator Certification.

When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My husband and I live in Worman's Mill with our two daughters, Elena and Sophia. Elena is a ninth grader at Walkersville High School. She is very active in theater, dance, and ice skating.  She enjoys anything historical. This summer she worked as an assistant docent with her grandmother at The Barbara Fritchie House and Museum.   Sophia turned 9 this summer. She will begin fourth grade at Walkersville Elementary School. Sophia loves The Little Mermaid and adores any kind of animal. You can usually find her outside "talking" and "playing" with dogs, rabbits, birds, and any other animal she can find. She enjoyed visiting the zoo this summer. Our daughters keep us very busy!   As a family, we like to swim at the pool, read, and spend time outdoors. We've had a lot of fun this summer and are excited for the new school year to begin.

I'm looking forward to meeting new families and learning more about the Green Valley community.
