Dear Green Valley Students, Staff and Parents,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year. I am very excited to serve all of you in my second year as your principal. Last school year was a successful one for our community. We grew as a community and welcomed more families to our building than ever before. We embraced our diversity and made teaching and learning our primary focus for all students. As great as the last school year was for Green Valley, the 2019-2020 school year will be the best year ever. To do this, your continued help, leadership, partnership, and support will be needed at our great school!
This year we will continue to work toward meeting all learning standards and achieve at even higher levels. Our goal will be to achieve near the top of the county for elementary school achievement. We will support all our learners in reaching this lofty goal by giving students our best and nothing less every day. We will expect the same from our students.
In the 2019-2020 school year, we are excited about building upon our successes academically and continuing our positive influence in the community. During this school year, we will be focusing on our School Improvement Plan goals as we continue to review data to evaluate, revise and refine our instruction to ensure all of our students are performing at their highest academic levels.
This year we will be implementing PATHS social emotional learning instruction for all of our primary learners and implementing classroom meetings to support social emotional growth in grades 3-5. We will be explicit in our learning intentions for students and customize instruction to meet the needs of a wide range of learners. We will celebrate all of our students this year with our Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports system. Each class will highlight students by selecting a PATHS (K-2) student of the day or Student of the Week (3-5). Additionally, we will increase our communication with families throughout the quarter by providing work samples and progress checkpoints so parents can be a regular part of instruction.
Finally, we will continue to develop our student citizens through spirit weeks focused on improving school climate, eliminating bullying, and demonstrating kindness. Our counselor will support classrooms through lessons focus on the social and emotional well being of every child.
I look forward to another amazing school year in service to our students, parents, and community. The joy in the journey has truly begun. Let’s continue to work together to make this the best year ever for everyone!
Yours in Teaching and Learning,
Dr. Giuseppe Di Monte
