Frederick County Virtual School manages six different programs, plus a non-credit exam prep option. The description of each program is listed below. School Year programs
Flexible Evening High School (FEHS)
FEHS is an alternative to the comprehensive high school environment. Students can earn additional credits through this program, which meets twice a week during the evening.
Virtual Outside of School (VOS)
VOS allows students to take courses if they are not offered in their home school, or if there is a schedule conflict. These courses can be taken for enrichment or to improve a grade, or for students to earn additional credits. Classwork is completed online, independently.
Virtual During School (VDS)
VDS is part of a credit recovery program and allows students to earn additional credits. VDS courses are offered at the student's home school.
Virtual After School (VAS)
- VAS is a credit recovery program, and is offered at the student's home school.
Virtual Inside school (VIS)
- The VIS Program offers virtual courses at high schools during the school day. Students report to a learning lounge each day during the same block. Virtual teachers travel to schools on set schedules to instruct students and are available via email, text, and videoconferencing technologies for support.
Partially Online Summer Session (POSS)
POSS is a summer-only program students can access for enrichment, to improve a grade or to earn additional credits.
Site-Based Summer Session (SBSS)
SBSS is a summer-only program students can access for credit recovery or to earn additional credits. Programs are located at the student's home school.
Traditional Summer Session (TRAD)
TRAD provides an opportunity for students to recover core content area credits required for graduation. Classes are held at Gov. Thomas Johnson Middle School.
