Week of December 17th, 2012

Winter break is almost here!!!  Hope you have fun and get to relax, but remember that we don't come back to school until January 2nd and the January HSAs begin on January 7th.  Take time to review over winter break so you retain all that you've been learning this semester.  Have a Happy New Year!

Week of December 10th, 2012

There are only 13 school days left until the January HSAs begin!  Be sure to attend after school tutoring each day it is offered to finish preparing for success on the assessments.  Also, you should plan to do some review over winter break so you don't forget what you've learned.  You can take home your book(s) and notes from class, and you can do online review (see below).   Review - it does a brain good!!!

Week of October 29th, 2012

Don't let the 2 days we missed due to Hurricane Sandy and all of our Spirit Week activities distract you from working hard in your HSA classes and staying for 5th Block ELO tutoring after school.  January HSAs will be here before we know it, and you want to be prepared!!!  Study hard, do your homework, and stay focused.

It's getting close

Spirit Week and Homecoming are right around the corner..... we need everyone to stop by and help.  Most days we stay until 4:30.   Spirit Days have been selected:
Monday:  Twin Day
Tuesday: Nerd Day or Senior Citizen Day
Wednesday:  Seniors:  Costumes; Jrs:  Green; Sophs:  Purple; Frosh:  Orange
Thursday:  Toga Day or Bow Day
Friday:  Black and Gold Day

Canned Food Drive and Spirit Links all week long
Pep Rally: block 4 Friday Nov 2
Fireworks:  Friday at 6:30

Homecoming 2012

Hey, Hey, Hey...It's that time of year again- HOMECOMING!  The spirit week activities are in full swing and this year looks to be the best EVER!  The Seniors (of course) have fully prepared for the ASSEMBLY (think Hunger Games meets FHS!) and King/Queen Nominations, while the SGA has once again flawlessly organized Spirit Week Activities (games, hallway decorating, FIREWORKS, dance, etc.)!  Make sure to participate this year by showing your spirit in a variety of ways- helping with decorations, showing up for games, watching the fireworks...you don't want to be the one saying, "Homecoming,

Service Projects Show Character

The first Club Day of the year was held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012.  Several Club advisors presented a service opportunity to their students, in Partnership with Hayden's Heart Heroes. These clubs were asked if they'd be interested in collecting books for  the Johns Hopkins Children's Center.  The Book Drive will continue through November 30, 2012.

FHS studente participate in and win awards at Media Core

A group of 10 FHS journalism students participated in the Media Core project at the Great Frederick Fair again this year.  Working with staff from The Frederick News-Post our students produced  the daily newsletter for the Great Frederick Fair.  In a real-world, fast-and-furious, fashion they began at 8:00 AM and reported, wrote, photographed, edited, and designed the pages ready for print by 2:00.
