Your child may receive one of the following methods of English instruction:
- Pullout Program: The student is excused from grade-level classes for specialized English instruction several times a week.
- Plug-in Program/Structured English Immersion: In a plug-in model, the ELL teacher teaches students in their classroom. This may include co-teaching the whole class with the classroom teacher or instructing small groups of ELL students during independent work/center time.
- Leveled Instruction: "At the secondary level, ELL students are grouped by their English proficiency level. The ELL teacher provides instruction focusing on language acquisition in lieu of students attending English Language Arts: with the exception, advanced students receive ELL services as well as regular language arts instruction."
- Sheltered English: (High School) Student receives content-based English language and content area instruction.
