Physical Therapy Program Coming to CTC!
Beginning next school year, Frederick County Public Schools high school students in grades 10–12 have an opportunity to enroll in an exciting new program offered at the Career and Technology Center: Physical Therapy.
The Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation program will expose students to varied careers related to the physical and occupational therapy field. This program integrates concepts of physical therapy, occupational therapy, kinesiology and athletic training. Students will focus on musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiopulmonary and Integumentary related injuries, diseases and disorders. In addition, students will also focus on preventative activities, therapeutic practices and rehabilitation. The program culminates with an Allied Health Internship designed to give students supervised practical application of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation in a professional healthcare setting.
CTC staff will facilitate the application process for the new Physical Therapy program during the current 2018-2019 school year. Students will not have to shadow this year; interested students only need to submit an application. Applications are available in each high school counseling center or online at www.careertech.net.
