My name is Lorraine Marshall and I am happy to serve as CTC's Math Specialist. CTC is a very special place and I love being here to help students understand math. I graduated from UMBC with a Mathematics Degree and a Certificate in Secondary Education.
After graduating, I taught at Glenwood Middle School all levels of mathematics there. During this time, I worked on my Master's Degree at Hood College in Computer Science and Information Sciences. Also, I worked as a educational curriculum specialist for Weatherbug.com where I showed teachers and administrators how to incorporate technology and weather data into their classroom instruction.
In 2006, I decided to return to the classroom. In 2008, I became CTC's mathematics specialist. Here at CTC, I support staff and students in many capacities. I work with all CTC online students taking math courses. I also support CTC students requiring math help in their home school courses. Additionally, I coteach math concepts within specific programs.
At CTC, we have a special time called Learning Lunch. During Learning Lunch students can work on their online classes, eat lunch, and collaborate with other students. Students can also receive help in all of their classes from certified teachers during this time. During Learning Lunch, Mrs. Lera Straits works with students in her classroom on English, and I work with students in the media center on math. We both also help students in other classes as well.
Personally, I have four beautiful daughters and wonderful husband. When I am not at school, I can be found most of the time at some soccer field watching my girls play, playing in my garden, or walking my dogs Callie and Holly.
