Course Description

COOPERATIVE WORK STUDY

Students are employed in paid part-time positions under the cooperative supervision of the employer and the work study coordinator. Training stations are provided in a career related job setting.

Students considering the work study option should schedule a conference with the coordinator in the spring of their junior year.

Cooperative Work Study A is for Fall Semester

Cooperative Work Study B is for Spring Semester.

Most assignments are for 2 credits and take up 2 90-minute periods of a school day.

PRE-APPRENTICESHIP

This is a career option available to senior career and technology students. Participants are employed part-time as pre-apprentices under the cooperative supervision of the employer and the work-study coordinator. The student is paid regular wages by the employer and earns time toward fulfilling the requirements of a regular apprenticeship while in high school.

Students considering the cooperative pre-apprenticeships option should schedule a conference with their work-study coordinator in the spring of their junior year. Training stations must be arranged and approved by the school. The employment activities are specified in an agreement between the employer and the student.

Cooperative Pre-Apprenticeship A is for Fall Semester. Cooperative Pre-Apprenticeship B is for Spring Semester.

INTERNSHIP

Students who have completed at least one year of a technical program here at CTC, may participate in a 4-6 week internship related to their technical studies.

Students need a recommendation from their technical teacher and are supervised by a CTC work study coordinator. Paid internships are at the discretion of the employer.
