My name is Mrs. Lisa Frederick and I have been an elementary teacher and school counselor for nearly 28 years. It gives me great pleasure to be a part of the Carroll Manor School community!
As part of the Frederick County School Counseling curriculum, there are lessons provided for each grade level. Specific topics will be taught per grade level. For Pre-K/Kindergarten our focus is on their adjustment to school. In First Grade we explore the development of self-esteem. In Second Grade our emphasis is on problem solving/social skills. Our Third Graders learn about equity and respecting differences. In Fourth Grade the concept of organization and study skills is explored and in Fifth Grade our students refine their conflict resolution skills. Overall, the students learn about school to careers and bullying prevention.
The counseling program promotes our CMES Character Counts! program by having 4 quarterly assemblies recognizing students in each class for showing exemplary character : trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
The counseling office has an extensive lending library for parents and students. Please let us know if we can be of assistance.
