Chorus

Welcome to the BES Chorus!!!!

We are a very active singing group that promotes positive music skills in order to give the singer an experience in performing excellence.

Dear Parents,

I welcome your child to join the BES chorus; one of the most outstanding music groups in our county! Chorus will meet from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoons. Chorus begins on 9/19/18.  Students may participate in both band and chorus.

If you agree to the following responsibility and behavior outline then please fill out the chorus form and turn it in to Mr. Cook:

  • Chorus Fee: There will be a chorus fee of $20 that must be paid in online at http://frederickcounty.schoolcashonline.com or in cash when this form is turned in, no checks will be accepted. This fee covers your child’s chorus t-shirt, and other chorus activity events throughout the year.

  • Chorus Uniform: Students will have 2 uniforms, one for more formal activities, and one for informal activities. Formal Uniform: Students will need black pants or a long black skirt (below the knees, preferably to the ankle) and a long sleeve white shirt or blouse. Informal Uniform: chorus t-shirt (students who do not purchase one, will be able to borrow one) and jeans.

  • I understand that chorus is a before/after school activity and it is my responsibility to arrange transportation for my child to all choral activities. I understand that if I have not arrived by 4:45 p.m., my child will be taken to the office where she/he will wait for me.

  • If I am more than 15 minutes late, my child will receive a late slip. If my child receives 3 late slips, I will find alternate transportation or my child will not continue with chorus this season.

  • I understand that if my child misses two unexcused rehearsals that he/she will be placed on chorus probation and any further absence will lead to dismissal from the group. If I am going to be absent for any reason, I will email Mr. Cook at jonathan.cook@fcps.org.

  • I understand that my child’s behavior record will follow him/her to all choral activities, my child must display a great attitude and exemplify what it means to be Brunswick strong both in chorus and in the classroom. My child is expected to show respect to their classmates and the staff. If my child displays excessive behavioral trends then they will not continue to be a chorus member for the current season.

  • If I have more than one schedule conflict with a performance or more than two schedule conflicts with a rehearsal with another activity no matter if it is sports or the arts, then I will wait to join chorus at another time.
