Positive Behavior Intervention Systems

Brunswick Elementary School advocates a safe and positive school environment for every learner. PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. Together, parents, students and staff share responsibility for teaching positive behavior and for developing good citizens. The philosophy of PBIS is to help each child develop self-discipline strategies in order to make good choices. Our focus is to acknowledge students for consistent positive behavior. Since we are responsible for our own behavior, we will stay on track and are expected to:

         Be Respectful

         Be Responsible

         Be Safe

         Be Ready to Learn

Collectively, we call following all four of these school rules being “Brunswick Strong.”

We recognize student’s positive choices and behaviors during class and throughout the school day. When school expectations are followed, students are recognized for their efforts by receiving RAIL (respect, attitude, initiative and learning) passes. The RAIL passes are collected by class, and a random class winner is drawn each week and highlighted on the morning announcements. RAIL passes can also be collected and used at our School Store for grades 2-5. Students practice the exchange system and trade in single passes for larger denominations to purchase items at the School Store.
