Mrs. Rose Branzell
6th Grade Language Arts
Welcome to Language Arts! I look forward to working with you and your child this year.
Contact: E-mail is the most efficient means of contact. Please feel free to reach out to me at email@example.com.
Academic Expectations: Students are expected to complete work on time. Work that exhibits reasonable effort but did not obtain mastery may be reassessed. Information about reassessments will be provided. Late work will be accepted with a completed late work plea (this does not pertain to homework).
Supplies needed in class EVERY day:
- One-inch binder or folder
- Loose-leaf paper
- Two pencils and one pen
- Three Spiral Notebooks (will be kept in class). One spiral is needed for each of our benchmark tasks.
- Novel (if a novel is being worked on in class, this novel should be brought daily)
Behavioral Expectations: Students are expected to practice respect (for themselves, peers, surroundings, adults, etc), restraint, and responsibility in order to create the optimal environment conducive for rigorous learning.
Behaviors that disrupt the learning of any student will result in a coordinating consequence according to BCMS’s PBIS structure. First offenses will receive a verbal warning; second offenses warrant parent contact; third offense result in a reflection/lunch detention; a fourth offense receives an office referral. Please note that some behaviors (i.e. physical aggression) may result in an immediate referral to the office.
Tutoring: Students may receive tutoring by requesting to be signed up for BEST tutoring sessions or by requesting help during independent work time in class.
Digital Learning Environment: FCPS has received a grant to infuse digital learning into the 6th grade classroom that will correlate with your Science and Language Arts classes. Students will be using a variety of digital tools to accomplish a real-world task during units throughout the year.
Technology: Google Classroom - Students automatically have access to Classroom through their FCPS accounts. This makes Classroom the most appropriate vehicle for providing digital copies of things being worked on in class. Please be sure to check Classroom for any documents.
Homework: Remind.com will be used to post helpful reminders about homework. To gain access:
