Sandra Chapin

I have taught in the Frederick County Public School system since 1991. I began my teaching career as a first grade teacher. Providing a positive and safe environment, where children feel confident to take risks and develop a love of learning, has always been a top priority in my class. I am taking on a new role this year as the coach of “THE” Bobcat Brainiac Math League, so I am known as Coach Chillin’ Chapin. I also enjoy serving as one of the Wellness Coordinators at BCES .
I attended Lenoir-Rhyne University in North Carolina, a long time ago, to earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. I have earned my Masters Equivalency at Western Maryland and I have complete my +60 hours. One thing I love about being a teacher is that I learn something new every day.
I am married to Doug Chapin and we have two beautiful children that also attended this great school. BCES is truly an extension of my family, with so many wonderful memories and friends that have developed over the years. I encourage you, as a parent and staff member, to get involved in your child’s education by attending our evening family programs, PTA sponsored events, volunteer or just visit for lunch. We are fortunate to have such a welcoming, friendly environment in which to work, teach and learn. Please join us in “Building a Better Tomorrow by Creating an Environment for Success Today!”
I am so proud of our school’s Character Counts Awards and Recognitions and I hope you and your students share in that pride.  We have so much to be pleased about from advanced test scores to after school BEST programs to meet the needs of all our students. We truly have an exemplary school here at Ballenger Creek Elementary.
