I am Julie Humbel and I have been teaching at Ballenger Creek Elementary School since the doors first opened in the fall of 1991. Yes, I am one of the "Founding Mothers." I began my career at BCES teaching in 1st grade. I taught 1st grade for 11 years, before changing my focus to reading intervention. I have been a reading interventionist here at BCES for the last 14 years, working with Kindergarten through fifth grade students. It is a real joy to see the smiles and sense a new found confidence in the students I work with.
I attended Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, PA earning my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I then attended Hood College and received a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Along with teaching at BCES and being a part of the BCES family, I also manage to raise a family of my own! :) I am happily married with two children, Abby and Jake, both of whom attended BCES and are now in high school. Wow,.... time flies!
