I am so excited to be a part of the Bobcat family here at Ballenger Creek ES!
My name is Kim Martin and I have been an educator since 1992. My teaching career began in New Orleans where I taught for 3 years. From there I taught for 4 years in Baltimore before making my way back home to Frederick County. Throughout my tenure in FCPS, I've taught at Monocacy Elementary for 5 years, Hillcrest Elementary for 12 years, and Lincoln Elementary for 3 years! I have taught 2nd through 5th grade as well as being a special education teacher, reading intervention teacher and a special education specialist. I also have my certificate to teach English Learners.
I grew up in Frederick County where I attended South Frederick ES (now Lincoln ES), West Frederick Middle School, and Frederick High School. Following high school, I attended and graduated from Hampton University in Hampton, VA with a bachelors in marketing. Following graduation, I was recruited by Teach For America where I was able to follow my lifelong dream of teaching... and I've never looked back!
My main goal for my students is to learn and grow every day... emotionally, socially, and academically! Your child should be able to come home from school every day and tell you something new that he or she has learned that day!
I enjoy talking to families and children so feel free to call 240-236-2555 or email me anytime. You can also drop by the classroom to say hello!
