First Grade is such a fun year! This year I will be beginning my 7th year teaching first grade at Oakdale Elementary. I have also been working on my master’s degree from Hood College. Hopefully by this time next year, I will be done! I moved to Frederick from Mechanicsburg, PA. With so much to do and being so close to Baltimore and D.C., I really love it here!
In my spare time, I enjoy being with my family and friends. I am lucky to have my sister and her family live so close. I get to spend a lot of time with my 10 month old niece and my 4 year old nephew. When I can, I love spending time outside hiking, running, or just playing with my dachshund, Baxter. Shopping is a weakness of mine. I’ve learned to control myself, but it can be difficult!
This past summer was very busy but so much fun! At the beginning, I took some classes and helped out at the Earth, Space, and Science Lab. I spent a lot of time painting and working on displays you’ll have to check out next time you visit. I had a blast spending a week camping with my 4 year old nephew. I took many trips to Kings Dominion where I love to ride the roller coasters. To finish up the summer, I had my own little adventure. I drove to Columbus, GA to visit some friends. Thirteen hours in the car is a little more than I would have liked, but it was a very pretty drive, and it was great to visit with some old friends!
Teaching is something that I have wanted to do for such a long time. My fifth grade teacher inspired me many years ago. I hope to one day make a difference to my students the way she did for me!
