The Pyramid Program at Lewistown Elementary is a unique special education program that serves elementary aged children who have emotional difficulties.

Students are placed in this program through a County Individualized Education Program (CIEP) Meeting. These students, in grades K through 5, come from various Frederick County schools.

As students are successful in the Pyramid Program, they are included in the Lewistown general education classes. This inclusion is in accordance with the least restrictive environment as mandated by special education regulations. Inclusion assistants are available to assist students as they transition into general education classes.

The ultimate goal for all students in the Pyramid Program is to return to their home school.
