Dear parents/guardians of 2013 FHS seniors --
For the last few years, FHS PTSA and Boosters have purchased an ad in the Frederick News Post listing each of the colleges/universities and institutions of higher learning that seniors have been accepted to (not applied to or attending). This list is printed in the FNP edition the day before graduation. This year it will run on Sunday, June 2.
We need to have this list put together as soon as possible. Please send a list of the institutions your senior was accepted to by email to FHS Guidance staff Julie Carter at julie.carter@fcps.org.
We appreciate your support in showing the Frederick Community at large the wonderful institutions our seniors were asked to join.

Preschool to Open at Frederick High—Fall 2013
Applications are currently being accepted for the new Kiddie Cadets Preschool opening this fall at Frederick High School. The program is open to 3 and 4-year-old children. (Must turn 3 by September 1, 2013) They must be potty trained, which includes no Pull-ups. Preschool will be held Tuesday through Friday for 1 ½ hours in the fall and 2 ½ hours in the spring.
Applications will be processed on May 22, 2013. Registration forms and payment information will be sent when this process is completed. If there are no openings at that time, your child will be placed on a waiting list.

Congratulations to these students who placed at the county level Frederick County PTA Refections Program and were selected for state competition. Congratulations to FHS senior Maddie Hurwitz who won first place in the Senior Paper division of the National History Day competition for the state of Maryland. Maddie’s paper, outlining the struggle for civil rights for Native Americans, will advance to the national competition at the University of Maryland this June. Maddie’s fellow cadets are extremely proud of her first class achievement.
Dollars for Scholars fundraiser to support scholarships for deserving FHS seniors. Last year, we awarded five $500 scholarships to members of the FHS Class of 2012. Please consider supporting this endeavor - no amount is too big or too small. There is nothing to sell or order - simply send your tax deductible donation, marked Dollars for Scholars to the PTSA, to the FHS front office or mail to FHS PTSA, 650 Carroll Parkway, Frederick, MD 21701. ATTENTION SENIORS!
The FHS Boosters maintains a brick memorial at the FHS stadium.
Engraved commemorative bricks surrounding the monument make fantastic gifts for graduating seniors, or tributes for alumni, coaches, teams, and teachers. Single bricks are available for $100 (3-line message) and large bricks (5-line message) for $250.
These tax-deductible donations provide support for all athletics and clubs at Frederick High. If you're interested in placing an order, you can obtain a form on the FHS website (http://education.fcps.org/fhs/) or contact Jana Sheffer at jsheffer29@gmail.com.
· Remember to inform your counselor and Mrs. Carter in Guidance with any university or college acceptances you have received!
· Also, don’t forget to check the Scholarship Link on the FHS website if you are looking for money for college! The list is updated every Friday and there are many scholarships with spring deadlines.
