Hearing & Vision Screening 2016

Notice of Hearing and Vision Screening

As mandated by the Maryland State Department of Education, hearing and vision screenings are provided by the Frederick County Health Department to help identify hearing and/or vision difficulties a student may have.  The school health staff will conduct hearing and vision screenings at Centerville Elementary School the week of December 12th, 2016.

All students in Kindergarten (if not previously screened in preschool) and 1st grade will be screened.  Students in grades 2-5 who are new to Maryland public schools will also be screened.  If your child wears glasses, please ensure your child has their glasses with them each day of the screening week for an accurate vision screening.

If your child does not pass the initial screening(s), they will be rescreened in January.  If they do not pass the rescreening(s), a letter will be sent home outlining the results of the screening(s) and the need to schedule an appointment with your child’s health care provider for a follow-up examination.  The letter must be completed by the health care provider and returned to the CES Health Room staff.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Health Room staff directly at 240-566-0110.
