Welcome to Third Grade at Ballenger Creek Elementary School!
My name is Kelley Hood and I will be your child’s third grade teacher this year. I grew up in Frederick County and graduated from Governor Thomas Johnson High School. I earned both my Bachelor's Degree and Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from Hood College. This is my 15th year of teaching. My first 3 years were spent teaching 2nd grade at Kemptown Elementary and the last 12 years have been here at Ballenger Creek Elementary teaching 3rd grade.
My husband Brian and I have two amazing sons, Jesse and Cody. Jesse recently graduated from WVU while Cody is in his senior year at WVU. Both of our sons were Ballenger Bobcats from kindergarten through 5th grade.
Teaching to me is an opportunity to truly make a difference in the world. I believe that in order to successfully teach children you must begin by showing them that you genuinely care for them, believe in them, value them as individuals and above all, expect them to succeed.
I look forward to an exciting and productive year. You are the most important person in your child’s life and your involvement and support mean a great deal. If you need to reach me for any reason, you can email or call and leave a message on my voice mail. I will get back to you promptly.
Thank you for your support in your child’s education.
